How Easy Is It To Find Allergy Friendly Foods At Disney's Flower & Garden Festival? + EPCOT Updates!

In today’s vlog we head to Disney World to see how easy it is to find allergy friendly food options at the EPCOT’s Flower & Garden Festival! It was surprisingly pretty easy, we found gluten, dairy and nut friendly items and the menu options were pretty delicious as well. Gluten friendly menu items are notated on the festival passports as well as the plant-based items. You do have to ask the cast members if there are any nut allergy friendly items or dairy allergy friendly items at the booths but the cast members were super knowledgeable and happy to help when we asked. We had the bacon jalapeño spoon bread at the Honey Beestro, grilled baby veggies with hummus at the Flavor Full Kitchen, popsicle trio from the Refreshment Port and the vegan chorizo on fried corn dough and the taco vampiro both from the Jardin de Fiesta in Mexico. We also watch one of the in park mini seminars about photosynthesis and receive a free take home project. We end the day with a look at what's new around the park and talk about some of the new park news & updates! We hope you had fun hanging out at EPCOT today with us! Thank you for watching and we'll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

    • Hi! As someone with serious food allergies, I really appreciate videos like this. They are very informative and quite helpful in the process of planning ahead for things. Food allergy awareness can be hard to come by and it means a lot that you guys chose to do an entire video on it. I'd love it if you could do similar things for other theme parks in the Orlando area!! Thanks for being awesome!

    • @TheTimeTracker - Please create videos at all four Disney Parks for people with food allergies. Our daughter has severe peanut and tree nut allergies, so it would be nice to see what different options are available around the parks for her. Maybe you can also do a Food Allergy Friendly Extravaganza at Disney Springs.

    • @caroline miller No worries! In this case the person I was responding to said they had celiac.

      KicapuKicapu19 ngày trước
    • @Kicapu just a misunderstanding. I was talking about celiac not being an allergy. I know it is not. My niece has celiac. my son has wheat, barley, rye allergy. Two completely different things. When someone talks about a gluten allergy they could be referring to an actual allergy and not just celiac. That’s why we always make sure to explain and correct if someone calls my son’s wheat barley rye allergy a GLUTEN allergy.

  • my best friend has a gluten allergy and she was THRILLED with the food she had during our 2019 trip. The tricky thing was that usual she is vegetarian, and wound up eating meat at most meals just because gluten free vegetarian options were few and far between. We're going back in 2022 and I'm really interested to see how many of the plant based options they've added since we visited are also GF! She's happy to eat meat on the trip if it makes it easier to find good food, but it would be great to have more options!

Im going to Disney world august 29 to Epcot but it will be a half day because i will be flying in that day. So I’m wondering if you guys can maybe look for me? The first leave a legacy I was low enough where I can actually see my family and I. I’m hoping that’s still the case now because I am only 5’2” if it’s at the top I’ll be pretty sad. At least I still have it but I just want to be able to take a picture by it like I did before. If you guys can help then thank you very much. If you can’t then I still love you guys lol.

  • My husband has a severe dairy allergy and in general Disney does a good job- better than most but could be better. I understand the need to talk to a chef if you have multiple allergies or want something done differently (sometimes the allergy menu has literally nothing on it but its because they put butter on top of something so very easily could be modified). However, at these festival stands and at the other food booths in the other parks I would greatly appreciate it if Disney would post if the dish had the 8 major allergens in it so in a situation where there is a very long line and the person taking the order is frazzled (as often happens at those Food and Garden booths) if he thought something was likely dairy-free (for example, there was a tuna dish he loved last year) he would not need to hold everyone up getting confirmation that it was ok for him to order. I feel like that would be a simple addition- they have that info on the printed allergy info that the cast members pull up for us when we ask and would eliminate the extra wait for us and others. This was fairly common practice in Ireland a few years ago- there would just be a quick list of all the allergens contained in the dish on the menu.

  • I love that you are doing this, Tim! So many people will find this usefull. I am lactose intolerant, so anything that is stated as Vegan, is good to go for me, even with the possibility of cross contamination. But it is good that you specifically still pointed that out. I do have to say though: coconut and peanuts do not fit into the category 'nut allergy', peanut is separate as it is, like soy, a legume(like okra, peas, green beans, ...). Coconut is considered to be a stone-fruit like apricot, plums, nectarines and peaches... weirdly enough haha That is why the Cast Member specifically said: tree nuts(so like almonds, walnuts, hazelnuts and chestnuts) and that is why you can see on packages of food in the shops 'nut and peanut allergy' because they are not the same, peanuts usually also lead to much severe reactions than nuts, but that's not a given. (no judgement by the way, just an fyi because it is confusing, I know. :-) ) But that being said: Kudos to Disney indeed! I am hungry now haha :-)

  • Hi Tim, Just as a note the passport note the foods as Gluten 'friendly' vs gluten 'FREE'. Terminology is VERY different for someone who has an extreme gluten allergy. There are sneaky ingredients that can be wheat based, like maltodextrin. Typically when we visit we talk with chefs. Anyhow, just wanted to let you know seeing as you kept saying Gluten 'Free' vs how passport labeled them as Gluten 'friendly'. Cheers!
